Daniel Jones Has Colts Rolling at 2-0
The Indianapolis Colts have started the 2025 season with two straight wins, and the biggest reason is quarterback Daniel Jones. After joining the Colts in the offseason and beating our first round pick Anthony Richardson for the starting job, Jones has stepped right in and played the best football of his career. Through two games, he has been accurate, smart with the ball, and dangerous in the red zone. The Colts look like a different team with him under center.
Hot Start Through Two Games
In Week 1, Jones was nearly perfect in a 33-8 win over the Miami Dolphins. He completed 27 of 29 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for two more scores. In Week 2 against the Denver Broncos, he followed that up with 316 passing yards and another touchdown. He even added a rushing touchdown to help the Colts win a tight 29-28 game.
Through two games, Jones has completed 45 of 63 passes for 588 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also has three rushing touchdowns. That kind of efficiency and production shows how well he fits in head coach Shane Steichen’s system.
Why He Looks Different
Jones is playing with more confidence than he showed during his time with the New York Giants. In New York, he often struggled behind a weak offensive line and was forced into turnovers. With the Colts, he has been better protected and is making smart decisions with the football. His accuracy has been sharp, and he has spread the ball around to receivers Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, and rookie Adonai Mitchell. Tight end Tyler Warren has also been a reliable target.
The Colts offense is balanced, too. Jonathan Taylor and the run game help keep defenses honest, which allows Jones to use play-action and take shots down the field. The result is an attack that has scored 62 points in two games, averaging 31 points per contest.
Can He Keep It Up?
The big question now is whether Jones can continue this level of play for an entire season. He has a history of injuries and inconsistency, but right now he is showing that he can be a steady leader. His next matchup is against the Tennessee Titans, a team that has struggled to stop opponents early this year. If Jones keeps playing this way, the Colts could surprise many people in the AFC.
At 2-0, Indianapolis is off to its best start in years, and Daniel Jones is at the center of it all.
