LitZone's Week 1 NFL Power Rankings: #32 - #17
The 2025 NFL season is here! Every team starts fresh with big dreams and new hopes. Some teams look ready to dominate. Others need to prove they can compete. Let's see how all 32 teams stack up as the season begins.
32. New Orleans Saints
The Saints are starting over with young quarterback Spencer Rattler. Last year, Rattler struggled badly in his first six starts. He couldn't find his rhythm or connect with receivers. The Saints need him to improve fast this season.
Alvin Kamara still runs hard and catches passes out of the backfield. Chris Olave can make amazing catches when he stays healthy. But the team has too many holes to fill. The offensive line can't protect well enough. The defense gave up too many points last year.
31. Cleveland Browns
Cleveland has big problems on offense this year. Their offensive line can barely protect the quarterback. Joe Flacco and rookie Shadeur Sanders will take hits all season long. It's hard to win games when your quarterback is always running for safety.
David Njoku is a great tight end who can catch tough passes. Rookie running back Quinshon Judkins should help the ground game when he plays. But teams will stack eight defenders in the box until Cleveland proves they can throw the ball well.
30. Tennessee Titans
Rookie Cameron Ward gives Titans fans something to cheer about. He has a strong arm and can make plays with his feet. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley runs perfect routes and catches everything thrown his way. But the rest of the receivers are still learning their jobs.
Running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears can both run and catch passes. They bring speed to the backfield. The problem is staying healthy all season long. The defense still gives up too many big plays to opposing teams.
29. New York Giants
Russell Wilson brings years of experience to New York. He can still throw deep passes and escape pressure in the pocket. Wide receiver Malik Nabers should have a breakout year catching balls downfield. These two players could create some magic together.
The Giants need more help everywhere else though. Their running game can't get going consistently. The offensive line struggles to open holes. The defense has some young talent but needs time to grow stronger.
28. Indianapolis Colts
Daniel Jones starting at quarterback tells us Anthony Richardson isn't ready yet. Richardson showed flashes last year but got hurt and lost his confidence. The Colts need him to get healthy and learn the game better.
Jonathan Taylor still pounds the rock between the tackles. He breaks tackles and finds the end zone regularly. Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs are solid receivers who catch what comes their way. But this offense needs Richardson's speed and arm strength to reach its potential.
27. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have new coaches who want to run the ball more. First-round pick Ashton Jeanty should carry the load in the backfield. He runs with power and breaks arm tackles. Star Tight end Brock Bowers can catch passes all over the field.
Geno Smith manages the offense well as a quarterback but doesn't create many big plays. He makes smart decisions and avoids turnovers. The defense still allows too many points though. The Raiders are building something but need more talent at key spots.
26. Carolina Panthers
Quarterback Bryce Young started to figure things out late last year. He began reading defenses better and making quicker throws. The Panthers added help with rookie receiver Tetairoa McMillan. He runs crisp routes and has great hands.
The running game has good depth this year. Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, and rookie Trevor Etienne all bring different skills. The offensive line should protect Young better too. This team is moving in the right direction but still learning how to win close games.
25. New York Jets
Quarterback Justin Fields brings exciting rushing ability to the Jets offense. He can scramble out of trouble and pick up first downs with his legs. Running back Breece Hall runs hard between the tackles and catches passes out of the backfield perfectly.
Garrett Wilson is a superstar receiver who gets open against any coverage. Rookie tight end Mason Taylor has huge potential but needs time to develop. The defense should keep games close while the offense finds its identity.
24. New England Patriots
Drake Maye enters his second season with much better weapons around him. Stefon Diggs brings veteran leadership and reliable hands. He runs every route perfectly and always finds open space. Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson adds speed to the ground game.
The offensive line improved from terrible to decent. That gives Maye more time to find his receivers. The defense added some help too. Coach Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels are building a solid foundation for the future.
23. Seattle Seahawks
Running back Kenneth Walker will carry a huge workload this season. He runs with power between the tackles and bounces outside for big gains. The Seahawks want to control games by running the football and eating up clock.
Quarterback Sam Darnold manages the offense but doesn't create explosive plays. Jaxon Smith-Njigba steps up as the number one receiver. Cooper Kupp brings experience but is getting older. The defense has some young stars who are still learning their roles.
22. Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray is finally healthy and ready to show his speed again. He can scramble out of pocket and make throws on the run. Marvin Harrison Jr. should become his favorite target this year. These two just need to get on the same page.
Tight end Trey McBride catches everything thrown his way over the middle. James Conner runs tough between the tackles. Rookie Trey Benson waits for his chance to show his skills. The defense added pass rushers to create more pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
21. Atlanta Falcons
Michael Penix Jr. takes over an offense loaded with young talent. Running back Bijan Robinson dances through holes and breaks tackles in the open field. Wide receiver Drake London uses his size to win battles for contested catches and should become a true star.
The offensive line is one of the best in football. They give Penix time to find his receivers downfield. The defense added pass rushers to improve their pressure on quarterbacks. If Penix plays well, Atlanta could surprise a lot of teams this year.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence needs to prove he can be a top quarterback this season. He has his best group of receivers ever to work with. Brian Thomas Jr. and rookie superstar Travis Hunter give him explosive options downfield.
Travis Etienne Jr. runs with power and catches passes out of the backfield. The offensive line should protect Lawrence better this year. After last season's collapse, the Jaguars hope Lawrence will finally reach his potential and lead this talented team.
19. Miami Dolphins
When healthy, the Dolphins have one of the most exciting offenses in football. Tua Tagovailoa throws perfect passes to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. These receivers fly past defenders and score from anywhere on the field.
De'Von Achane emerged as a dual-threat star running back who can run and catch with equal skill. Darren Waller adds another weapon in the passing game. If everyone stays healthy, Miami can absolutely return to the playoffs this season.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers brings championship experience to Pittsburgh. He teams up with DK Metcalf to form a dangerous passing combination. Rodgers can still make almost every throw on the field. Metcalf uses his size and speed to win battles downfield.
Rookie Kaleb Johnson and Jaylen Warren give the backfield nice balance. The offensive line should be healthier this year too. The defense remains tough under coach Mike Tomlin. Even if Rodgers isn't at his peak, the Steelers should make the playoffs.
17. Chicago Bears
The Bears hired offensive mastermind Ben Johnson to unlock their potential. Quarterback Caleb Williams enters his second year with much better protection and weapons. The offensive line got completely rebuilt to give Williams time to throw.
DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and rookie tight end Colston Loveland give Williams great targets. This offense went from broken to exciting in just one season. If Williams takes the expected leap forward, Chicago could shock the NFC this year.
The Season Begins
Week 1 is always full of surprises and upsets. Some teams will exceed expectations right away. Others will start slowly and build momentum. The most important thing is staying healthy and getting better each week. Let the 2025 NFL season begin!
