Magic and Knicks Advance to NBA Cup Semifinals After Big Wins
The NBA Cup knockout round happened last night with two exciting quarterfinal games. The Orlando Magic beat the Miami Heat 117–108, and the New York Knicks defeated the Toronto Raptors 117–101. Both winners now move on to the semifinals in Las Vegas later this week, and both victories also count toward the regular-season standings.
Magic Defeat Heat Behind Huge Night from Desmond Bane
Orlando took down Miami 117–108 in a fast-paced game that featured big scoring from both sides. The star of the night was Desmond Bane, who exploded for 37 points on 14-of-24 shooting. He hit six three-pointers and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists, showing why the Magic traded for him in the offseason. His strong play helped Orlando hold off several late pushes from Miami.
Jalen Suggs had one of his best games of the season, finishing with 20 points and 4 assists, while Paolo Banchero added 18 points and 7 rebounds. Together, they gave the Magic a steady balance of scoring and playmaking.
Miami had a strong night from several players as well. Norman Powell led the team with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins each scored 19 points, and Tyler Herro added 20 points and 7 rebounds. But even with all that offense, the Heat couldn’t slow down Bane or keep Orlando from pulling ahead in the second half.
Knicks Beat Raptors to Reach First NBA Cup Semifinal
The Knicks earned a 117–101 win in Toronto behind another outstanding game from Jalen Brunson. He scored 35 points and controlled the pace from start to finish. New York took over the game in the second quarter, outscoring Toronto 34–13 and never looking back.
Josh Hart gave the Knicks a big boost with 21 points, playing with his usual energy and toughness. The Raptors started strong and held a small lead after the first quarter, but they struggled badly in the second. Brandon Ingram scored 31 points to keep Toronto in it, but Scottie Barnes had a cold shooting night and couldn’t help spark a comeback.
What’s Next
With these wins, the Magic and Knicks will face each other in the semifinals in Las Vegas. Both teams are now just two wins away from the NBA Cup title, and last night’s victories also helped their position in the regular-season standings. The stage is set for a high-energy matchup later this week.
