Red Sox Strike First with Back-to-Back Bombs
The Braves rolled into Boston on the back of a huge win streak. But the Red Sox had other plans. Spencer Strider took the mound with his overpowering fastball ready to go. It didn't matter. Jarren Duran stepped up and crushed a 96-mph fastball over the right field wall. The crowd erupted. Then Ceddanne Rafaela came up and did the same thing—he tomahawked an 83-mph slider and sent it flying to left. Two homers in a row. Boston jumped ahead 2-0 before the Braves even had a chance to breathe. The Red Sox were hungry and showing no mercy early. Atlanta needed to answer back fast or this game would slip away. Strider struck out four batters but the damage was done. The Red Sox had the momentum swinging their way.
Braves Claw Back with Four Straight Runs
Matt Olson stepped to the plate in the fifth inning with Mauricio Dubon on base. He connected on a pitch and the ball rocketed 428 feet to right field—a two-run blast that cut Boston's lead in half. The Braves were waking up. Then came the sixth inning and things got wild. Michael Harris II ripped a ground rule double and Riley raced home. Dominic Smith grounded out but Harris II scored again. Ronald Acuna Jr. slapped a single to left and Harris II came across. Just like that, the Braves had four runs in two innings and took a 5-2 lead. Boston got one back when a fielder let Abreu score on a double play, but Atlanta was cooking now. The momentum had completely shifted and the Red Sox looked desperate.
Harris II Homers Again as Braves Hold On Tight
The eighth inning brought another showcase for Michael Harris II. He crushed a 91-mph changeup from Tyron Guerrero and sent it soaring 423 feet to center field. Mike Yastrzemski raced home and the Braves pulled ahead 7-4. But Boston wasn't done fighting. In the ninth, Isiah Kiner-Falefa delivered a clutch single to center and two runs scored to make it 7-6. Raisel Iglesias took over to close it out. The final strike fell and the Braves escaped with a tight victory. Atlanta improved to 38-18 with this road win. Boston fell to 22-32 and slipped deeper into trouble. Harris II went 4-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs—an absolute monster at the plate. The Braves' pitching held strong when it mattered most.
