Braves beat Angels 8–2 in Atlanta
The Atlanta Braves visited the batters box with energy at Truist Park on Wednesday. Atlanta scored eight runs while the Los Angeles Angels managed two, and the final was 8-2. Grant Holmes started for the Braves and Reid Detmers started for the Angels. The game moved quickly, with small plays building into big moments, and Atlanta pulled away after the third inning. Fans saw a mix of power hits and smart baserunning. This win improved Atlantas record to 8-5, and the Braves showed strong pitching depth. Meanwhile the Angels fell to 6-7 after some costly mistakes and missed chances.
Early scoring set the tone
During the first two innings the Braves jumped ahead with timely hitting. In the first, Ozzie Albies hit a sacrifice fly and Ronald Acuña Jr. scored, putting Atlanta up 1-0. Then in the second, catcher Travis d'Arnauds teammate hit a ground rule double that allowed Austin Riley to score, making it 2-0. The Angels answered in the bottom of the second when Jorge Solers long homer shrank the lead to 2-1. Later that same inning the Angels tied the game after an O'Hoppe walk forced in a run, and the score was even at 2-2.
Big third inning and late insurance runs
In the third inning Atlanta changed the game with two big plays that mattered. Matt Olson crushed a 399-foot home run to center that scored two and made it 4-2. Then an error on a play let Austin Riley score, so the Braves led 5-2 after three. In the fifth, Orlando Dubn doubled and two more runs scored, pushing the score to 7-2. In the sixth, Baldwins single brought in another run and the game became 8-2. Atlantas pitching then held the Angels scoreless the rest of the way, and the Braves closed the game without any errors.
