Orioles Strike Early, Then Explode in Sixth
The Baltimore Orioles visited Kansas City on Wednesday to face the Royals. After losing a tight game the day before, Baltimore was hungry for a comeback win. The Orioles got what they wanted, defeating Kansas City eight to six. Early in the game, Orioles slugger Alonso connected on a powerful home run over right-center field. His blast traveled four hundred ten feet and brought another runner home, giving Baltimore an instant two-to-nothing lead. Although Kansas City answered quickly with Pasquantino's own home run, the Orioles stayed focused on winning the pitcher's duel between Chris Bassitt and Michael Wacha. The stage was set for an exciting matchup in the middle innings.
Royals Tie It Up, but Orioles Take Control Later
The game stayed close through the early innings as both teams battled hard. In the fourth inning, Kansas City tied things up when Jensen singled to center, scoring Pasquantino. Thomas then singled as well, bringing Jensen home to make it two to two. However, the Orioles refused to let the Royals take control. In the sixth inning, Baltimore exploded with powerful hitting. Taveras singled to right, scoring Alonso while advancing to second base. Jackson followed with another single to left, driving in two more runs to make it five to three. Then came the crushing blow: Mayo crushed a massive home run to left-center field that sailed four hundred fifty-two feet into the air, scoring two more runners and putting Baltimore up eight to three.
Late Rally Falls Short for Kansas City
Baltimore's sixth-inning explosion put them up by five runs, seemingly in control of the game. However, Kansas City refused to quit fighting. In the bottom of the sixth, Jensen launched a solo home run to center field, making the score eight to four. Then Isbel stepped up and crushed his own home run to right field, scoring Massey and cutting Baltimore's lead to just two runs at eight to six. Despite Kansas City's late rally, the Orioles held firm for the remaining innings without allowing any more scoring. The final score remained eight to six in favor of Baltimore. This victory improved the Orioles' record to twelve wins and thirteen losses, giving them momentum heading forward. Meanwhile, Kansas City's record fell to eight wins and seventeen losses as their losing streak continued.
