Ward's Home Run Gives Orioles Early Lead
The Baltimore Orioles traveled to Tampa Bay to face the Rays on Tuesday night, looking to bounce back after a tough loss the day before. Kyle Bradish took the mound for Baltimore, while Griffin Jax started for Tampa Bay. Early in the game, things looked promising for the Orioles. In the first inning, Ward connected on a fastball and launched it high over the left field wall. The ball soared 385 feet into the night sky, giving Baltimore a 1-0 lead. However, the Rays answered immediately when Díaz smacked a double to center field, driving in a run to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams showed they could hit early, but Baltimore's pitching would soon face serious challenges.
Rays Break Through with Díaz's Powerful Blast
By the sixth inning, the score remained tied at 1-1, with both teams searching for momentum. Then Díaz stepped up to the plate and changed everything. He crushed a slider that traveled an incredible 439 feet to center field, launching the Rays ahead 2-1. This wasn't just any home run—Díaz's ball soared with an exit velocity of 111 miles per hour, showing his tremendous strength at the plate. The two-run advantage gave Tampa Bay control of the game. Meanwhile, the Orioles struggled to generate offense and couldn't keep pace. By the eighth inning, the Rays' bats kept working. Palacios doubled to right field, scoring Williams and moving himself to third base. DeLuca followed with a single to center, bringing home another run.
Rays Close Out Victory Behind Strong Hitting
The Orioles' offense couldn't find the spark they needed throughout the evening. Baltimore managed only four hits and one run, which simply wasn't enough to compete with Tampa Bay's aggressive approach. The Rays, meanwhile, built their lead steadily through smart hitting and timely plate appearances. After DeLuca's single in the eighth inning scored another run, Tampa Bay had extended their advantage to 4-1. The Orioles came up short in the ninth inning, unable to mount a comeback. When the final out was recorded, Tampa Bay celebrated a convincing 4-1 victory. This loss dropped Baltimore to 21-28 on the season, while the Rays improved to 32-15 and extended their winning streak to three consecutive games. For Baltimore's young team, consistency on the mound and at the plate remains essential moving forward.
