Red Sox Dominate Orioles in Explosive Saturday Matchup
The Boston Red Sox hosted the Baltimore Orioles at home on Saturday, April 25, in a game that quickly became one-sided. After the Orioles had beaten Boston 10-3 the day before, the Red Sox came ready for revenge. Starting pitcher Garrett Crochet took the mound for Boston, while Trevor Rogers pitched for Baltimore. The Red Sox's bats caught fire early and never stopped swinging. Boston's offense was absolutely relentless, piling on runs throughout the game. When the final out was recorded, the scoreboard read Boston 17, Baltimore 1. This massive victory gave Boston momentum after struggling with their record. The Red Sox showed they could bounce back and compete at the highest level when everything clicked together.
Early Onslaught: Boston Takes Control in Second Inning
Boston's bats erupted in the second inning with back-to-back-to-back hits. Durbin doubled to right field, rocketing a 94 mph fastball with an exit velocity of 97 mph that traveled 363 feet. That brought in the first run. Kiner-Falefa then singled to left, driving in another runner. Rafaela followed with his own single, and Boston had three runs before the inning ended. The Red Sox weren't done yet. In the fourth inning, Contreras lifted a sacrifice fly that scored another run. By the fifth inning, Wong smashed a double to right that cleared the bases completely, bringing in three more runners. Boston had built a commanding 7-0 lead by the middle of the game.
Ninth Inning Fireworks: Red Sox Explode for 10 More Runs
Everything changed in the ninth inning when Boston's offense went absolutely wild. Contreras singled to left to start the rally, then Monasterio launched a massive home run 388 feet to center field with an exit velocity of 104 mph. That blast scored four runners and made it 12-1. Durbin followed with his own home run to left, a towering shot 386 feet that scored two more. Contreras then stepped up again and hit another incredible home run to center field, traveling 418 feet. This three-run blast brought the final score to an astounding 17-1. Baltimore's pitching staff couldn't escape the ninth inning as Boston's hitters dominated completely. This overwhelming victory showed what the Red Sox could accomplish when their bats were hot and timing was perfect.
