In the seventh inning, Murakami hit a solo home run for Chicago, extending their lead to 6-4. However, Oakland's Kurtz responded immediately with a two-run home run, tying the game at 6-6 and igniting hope.
Extra Innings Heartbreak for Chicago
The game remained tied at 6-6 through the eighth and ninth innings, forcing baseball into extra innings. Both teams had chances to win, but neither could deliver the final blow until the eleventh inning arrived. In the bottom of the eleventh, Oakland's Muncy stepped up with a chance to end it. He hit a sacrifice fly to left field, sending Wilson across home plate with the winning run. The Athletics celebrated their 7-6 victory in eleven innings, a thrilling comeback from their five-run deficit. Chicago's loss dropped them to 7-14 on the season.
