White Sox Strike First, Giants Answer Back
The Chicago White Sox came to San Francisco looking to bounce back. They'd lost the night before, 10-3, and needed to show some fight. The Giants sat at 22-31 and had just won two straight. Both teams wanted this win badly. Chase Meidroth stepped up first for the White Sox and launched a fastball from Robbie Ray deep to left-center. The ball rocketed 371 feet into the air and landed over the wall. Chicago led 1-0 immediately. But San Francisco didn't stay quiet for long. Casey Schmitt doubled to right, bringing Willy Adames home. Then Rafael Devers crushed a double to center, and Schmitt scored. Just like that, the Giants led 2-1. Meidroth's power swing got Chicago going, but the Giants' bats were ready to answer every punch the White Sox threw at them.
Schmitt Crushes Homers, Devers Powers Giants Late
Inning three brought more Giants thunder. Casey Schmitt stepped in and crushed a 398-foot home run to left-center. Arraez had reached base, so Schmitt's blast made it 3-1 Giants. The power was flowing in San Francisco's batting order. The White Sox kept fighting though. In the fourth inning, Edgar Quero crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Luisangel Acuña. Chicago trailed 3-2. Then came the fifth inning fireworks. The White Sox loaded the bases and pushed across two more runs. Colson Montgomery's ground out scored Murakami. Quero singled home Vargas. Suddenly it was 4-4. But Grant Taylor couldn't hold the line for Chicago. Rafael Devers demolished a pitch 391 feet to left-center, and four runs crossed home. The Giants jumped to 8-4 and took control of the game. Devers' power blast changed everything.
Miguel Vargas Homers, Giants Hold On to Win
The White Sox refused to quit. In the seventh inning, Miguel Vargas stepped up against Matt Gage and smashed a 378-foot home run to left field. Chicago cut it to 8-5 and was still fighting. The Giants' pitching came through when it mattered most. After Robbie Ray's early struggles with seven walks, the bullpen took over. Keaton Winn earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings. Matt Gage gave up just Vargas's homer. Erik Miller and Caleb Kilian shut the door with lights-out pitching. The final score was Giants 8, White Sox 5. San Francisco improved to 23-31 with back-to-back wins. Chicago stayed at 26-26 on the season. The Giants' bats led the way with Schmitt's two homers and five RBIs and Devers' powerful contributions. It was a slugfest, but the Giants' pitching arms held strong when Chicago mounted their comeback attempt.
