Guardians Strike Back After Tough Loss
The Guardians rolled into Miller Park ready to bounce back. They'd lost 4-9 the night before and needed this one badly. Cleveland was sitting at 39-35 on the season, struggling to find wins. Milwaukee came in hot at 45-26, riding a three-game winning streak. But the Brewers didn't know what was coming. Parker Messick took the mound for Cleveland with a chip on his shoulder. He was locked in, striking out nine batters over six innings. The Guardians' bats were hungry. David Fry, Kyle Manzardo, and Travis Bazzana all circled the bases today. These three young power hitters were ready to make noise in Wisconsin. The Cleveland pitching staff showed why they're built to compete. Messick's control was sharp. His fastballs painted the corners. His curves dropped off the table. Milwaukee couldn't catch up to what Cleveland brought to the yard.
Three Long Balls Light Up the Scoreboard
The third inning changed everything. David Fry stepped up and crushed a fastball from Shane Drohan. The ball rocketed over left-center field 380 feet into the stands. Cleveland jumped ahead 1-0. Then things got quieter for a bit. Gary Sanchez singled in the second inning for Milwaukee, scoring Andrew Vaughn. The game was tied. Cooper Pratt flew out in the fourth, scoring Sanchez again. Milwaukee led 2-1. But Cleveland wasn't done swinging. Kyle Manzardo crushed a 370-foot bomb to right field off Joel Kuhnel in the sixth inning. Bam! Back came the Guardians to tie it 2-2. Travis Bazzana wasn't about to be outdone. He launched a 398-foot missile over right field off Grant Anderson in the seventh. Cleveland took the lead 3-2. The power was on display today.
Guardians Hold On to Win and Stay Alive
The seventh inning was wild. After Bazzana's blast put Cleveland up 3-2, things got crazy. Drew Rom was pitching for Milwaukee. A wild pitch zoomed past the catcher. Suddenly runners were moving everywhere. Daniel Schneemann scored on the wild pitch. The Guardians stretched their lead to 4-2. That was the game right there. Cade Smith came in to close it out. He pitched 1.1 innings of relief and earned the save. No runs scored. No hits allowed. Pure dominance in the late innings. When the final out was recorded, Cleveland had their win. The Guardians improved to 39-35 with this road victory. Milwaukee dropped to 45-26 after the loss. The series between these teams was tied at one game each. Cleveland's pitching depth showed why they can compete. Smith, Tim Herrin, Colin Holderman, and Hunter Gaddis all slammed the door shut. The Guardians proved they could win on the road.
