Dodgers Strike First, Rockies Reeling
The Dodgers hosted the Rockies at their home stadium, hunting for back-to-back wins. Colorado was desperate. They had lost four straight games and dropped the night before 10-0. The final score told the story: Los Angeles 15, Colorado 6. This game got ugly fast for Colorado's pitching.
Mookie Betts stepped into the box in the first inning. Kyle Freeland threw a 90-mile-per-hour fastball. Betts crushed it—a rocket shot that cleared the center field wall 404 feet away. Freddie Freeman trotted home ahead of him. Just like that, the Dodgers had a 2-0 lead before the Rockies could even blink.
Colombia fought back quickly. Hunter Goodman powered one deep into the Colorado night in the second inning. His solo blast off Eric Lauer cut the deficit to 2-1. The young catcher wanted more, but the Dodgers' bats were too hot to stop.
Dodgers Explode with Multiple Home Runs
The second and third innings were when Los Angeles took control. Enrique Hernandez launched a fastball over the left field wall—371 feet of pure power. Andy Pages followed with his own blast. The Dodgers weren't just winning; they were demolishing Colorado's pitchers.
Then came the fourth inning chaos. Kyle Freeland threw a wild pitch that let Miguel Rojas score. Pages stepped up and smacked a double into center field. Two more runs crossed home plate. Freddie Freeman hit a sacrifice fly to push another run across. The Dodgers had pounded Freeland for eight runs in just four innings.
Four innings in, Los Angeles led 8-1. Freeland was done. Colorado brought in fresh arms, but the damage was catastrophic. Andy Pages went 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs. The Dodgers' bats were relentless and unstoppable.
Late Rockies Rally Falls Way Too Short
The Dodgers kept piling on in the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Miguel Rojas doubled home Teoscar Hernandez. Hyeseong Kim hit a sacrifice fly for another run. The score climbed to 10-1, then 13-1. Mookie Betts came back around with another home run—his second of the night. Will Smith launched one 399 feet into center field. It was 15-1, and the game was completely done.
Then Colorado finally got some hits in the ninth. Brett Sullivan smacked a solo home run. Kyle Karros connected on a pitch and sent it sailing to left field with two runners aboard—three runs scored. Sterlin Thompson singled home one more run. The Rockies finished with six runs, but it was too little, way too late. Los Angeles improved to 35-20. Colorado fell to 20-36.
