Game setup: Astros at Mariners, final score
The Houston Astros traveled to T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Monday, April 13 for a night game. The Astros hoped to get offense while their rotation adjusts after Framber Valdez left, and Mike Burrows started on the mound. The Mariners sent George Kirby and looked to use their deep staff to control the game. Seattle won 6–2, with big early damage from a two-run and three-run blast. Fans saw power and strong pitching early, and the game tilted quickly in Seattle's favor. This matchup showed Seattle’s balanced rotation and Houston’s search for answers while Hader remains a late-inning plan.
Early scoring: Naylor’s two big homers
The game's first big moment came in the bottom of the first inning. Josh Naylor faced a 96 mph fastball and the ball soared to right-center for a three-run homer. That made it 3–0 and the crowd roared. In the third inning Naylor struck again, this time a 433-foot homer to center that scored Cal Raleigh and pushed the lead to 5–0. Seattle’s early power forced Houston to chase the game. Those two swings set the tone and showed how one hitter can change momentum. Meanwhile George Kirby and Seattle’s staff limited Houston’s early chances.
Comeback attempts and final inning wrap
Houston fought back in the fifth inning and scored twice. José Siri or Justin Díaz? The scoring plays list Díaz singled home a run, and Trammell advanced to third. Later Allen hit into a double play that still allowed Trammell to score, making it 5–2. Seattle answered in the bottom of the fifth when Raley singled and Rodríguez scored, stretching the lead to 6–2. No more runs came after that, and Seattle finished strong. The Mariners got the win and improved their record, while Houston kept searching for consistent offense during this tough stretch of games.
