Rangers Explode Early Against Houston
The Astros rolled into Texas riding a disappointing streak. Houston had lost their last game and needed a win. The Rangers were hungry too—they were struggling all season. But from pitch one at Globe Life Field, Texas took over. Jack Leiter was on the mound for the Rangers, and he threw a changeup at 89 miles per hour to Evan Carter in the first inning. Carter connected and the ball sailed right—a triple that sparked absolute chaos. Jake Burger singled before that, scoring two runs. Then Carter doubled to center and scored again. Joc Pederson crushed a 399-foot bomb to right. The Rangers built a stunning 8-0 lead before Houston even got a swing. The crowd roared. Astros pitcher Jason Alexander couldn't find the zone. Houston was already playing catch-up before the third inning ended.
Alvarez Fights Back with Monster Homers
Houston's star hitter Yordan Alvarez wasn't going to roll over. In the third inning, Alvarez stepped up against Jack Leiter. The pitcher threw an 89-mile-per-hour changeup and Alvarez was ready. He crushed it—the ball rocketed 449 feet to right-center field. Two runners scored with him. The Astros were alive again, down 8-3. But the Rangers answered right back. Evan Carter launched a 359-foot homer in the bottom of the third. Texas was still in control at 9-3. Then everything changed in the eighth inning. Jalen Beeks was pitching for Texas when Alvarez stepped up again. This time the ball flew 422 feet to right field. A solo blast. Minutes later, Cam Smith smashed a 457-foot bomb to left-center. Houston was creeping closer, down just 9-6 with momentum building their way.
Rangers Hold Off Late Astros Surge
The Astros kept swinging in the ninth inning. Jeremy Peña stepped up against Jacob Latz and smashed a 454-foot home run to center field. Houston scored again. The Astros were down just 10-7 with their best hitter still dangerous. But the Rangers didn't panic. Ezequiel Duran had singled in the eighth to score Jake Burger and keep Texas ahead. Jacob Latz locked down the ninth inning and sealed the save. Final score: Rangers 10, Astros 7. Texas improved to 25-29 with a big win at home. Houston fell to 24-32, still searching for consistency. Yordan Alvarez went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, proving why he's one of baseball's most dangerous hitters. But it wasn't enough on this night. The Rangers' early explosion was simply too much for the Astros to overcome.
