Yankees Dominate Royals in Saturday Showdown
The Kansas City Royals visited the New York Yankees on Saturday, April 18, in what turned out to be a lopsided matchup at Yankee Stadium. Coming into the game, the Royals were searching for wins after dropping their last contest to the Yankees 4–2. New York was riding high with momentum from consecutive victories. However, this game would belong entirely to the home team. When the final out was recorded, the scoreboard read Yankees 13, Royals 4. The Yankees' bats came alive early, while Kansas City's pitching struggled to find answers. It was clear from the opening innings that New York had control of this game from start to finish.
Yankees' Third Inning Explosion Changes Everything
The game's turning point came in the third inning when the Yankees' offense erupted. Rosario stepped up and smashed a cutter at 92 mph over the left-center wall, sending it 390 feet into the bleachers with Escarra scoring. The crowd roared as New York took a 2–0 lead. Moments later, Bellinger followed with his own blast over the right field fence, a 385-foot home run that brought Judge around to score. But the damage wasn't finished. Rice added another solo shot deep to right, traveling 398 feet and making it 5–0 Yankees. Three home runs in one inning completely shifted the game's momentum. Kansas City's pitching staff couldn't escape the third, and the Yankees had already seized complete control.
Yankees Keep Rolling While Royals Mount Late Push
The Yankees continued their assault through the middle innings. In the fourth inning, Escarra doubled to center and scored on a Bellinger single, extending New York's lead to 7–0. When the sixth inning arrived, Rosario singled to center to drive in another run, followed by Bellinger's second home run of the game, which sailed 374 feet to right-center field. New York's pitching meanwhile kept Kansas City completely in check. The Royals finally got on the board in the seventh when Jensen hit a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 10–2. A desperate Massey doubled in the ninth to score two more runs, bringing the final tally to 13–4. Although the Royals showed some fight late, the Yankees' early domination proved too much to overcome.
