Texas Erupts Early, Kansas City Never Catches Up
The Royals walked into Globe Life Field looking to bounce back. They'd lost four straight coming into Saturday. The Rangers, meanwhile, needed a win after stumbling to 26-31 on the season. Right from the first inning, Texas struck hard. Ezequiel Duran smashed a single up the middle, and two runs came flying across home plate. But it got worse for Kansas City. Errors piled up. A throwing mistake by Nick Loftin let another runner score. Then Salvador Perez threw wild, and another run crossed. Just one inning in, the Rangers led 4-0. The Royals' pitching staffâusually their strengthâcouldn't find the zone. Stephen Kolek, on the mound for Kansas City, was already in trouble.
Rangers Keep Piling It On With Home Run Barrage
The damage didn't stop in the first. The Rangers kept swinging hard. In the fifth inning, Brandon Nimmo crushed a fastball over the right field wallâa blast that traveled 435 feet. Josh Jung scored on that bomb. The Rangers now led 6-0. One inning later, Nicky Lopez stepped up and launched another one. His home run sailed 397 feet into right center. Danny Jansen scored ahead of him. It was 8-0 Texas. The Royals couldn't answer. Kolek pitched 5 innings but gave up 6 runs. The Rangers' bats were on fire. Every time Kansas City thought they might scrape together something, Texas pushed another run across. The home crowd was roaring. This game was slipping away fast from the visitors.
Rangers Cruise to Victory as Royals Get One Back
The Rangers kept going in the eighth. Joc Pederson stepped up against Eric Cerantola and ripped a slider over the right field wall. The ball traveled 339 feet. Texas made it 9-0. The game was completely out of reach. The Royals finally got on the board in the ninth inning. Vinnie Pasquantino singled to center, and Maikel Garcia scored. It wasn't nearly enough. MacKenzie Gore pitched 6 and a third innings for the Rangers and didn't give up a single run. His fastballs were sharp. His cutters were moving. The final score was Texas 9, Kansas City 1. The Royals fell to 22-35. The Rangers improved to 26-31. It was a dominant performance from start to finish by the home team.
