Rangers Strike Fast in Shocking First Inning
The Royals rolled into Arlington on the heels of a tough loss. Texas had won the night before 7-6 in a wild ninth-inning comeback. You could feel the Rangers wanted to keep the momentum rolling. Jack Leiter took the mound for Texas and looked sharp early. But the Rangers didn't need fancy pitching to score. Michael Wacha threw a cutter that Ezequiel Duran crushed to left field for a triple. Josh Jung and Jake Burger raced home. The Rangers didn't stop there. Alejandro Osuna singled to right, bringing Duran home for a 3-0 lead. Kyle Higashioka doubled to center, and Osuna scored. Just like that, the Rangers led 4-0 before Kansas City even blinked.
Royals Wake Up but Rangers Stay in Control
Kansas City's bats finally came alive in the middle innings. Bobby Witt Jr.'s teammates scratched and clawed to stay in the game. Lane Thomas singled to left in the seventh inning, scoring Michael Massey and cutting the deficit to 5-1. The Royals weren't done yet. Michael Massey stepped up in the eighth inning against Gavin Collyer. The first pitch came in at 96 miles per hour. Massey connected and sent it soaring to right center for a home run. Collins scored too. Suddenly, Kansas City cut it to 6-3. Jack Leiter had been dominant for Texas, striking out ten batters over five and two-thirds innings. The Royals showed some fight, but the Rangers' early explosion proved too much to overcome.
Rangers Hold On as Royals Fall Short 6-3
The Rangers' pitching staff slammed the door when it mattered most. Texas pitchers combined to strike out fifteen Royals batters. Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-5 with a stolen base, but even his speed and skill couldn't spark a bigger rally. The Royals' bats simply couldn't catch up to the Rangers' fast start. By the final out, the board read 6-3, Texas. The Rangers improved to 28-31 with the win, stretching their winning streak to three games. Kansas City dropped to 22-37, falling further back in the standings. Leiter earned the win for Dallas. Jacob Latz recorded the save. This loss marked the Royals' sixth straight defeat. The gap between these teams felt massive. One team had momentum. The other was searching for answers.
