Angels Strike First with Explosive Second Inning
The Los Angeles Angels visited the Kansas City Royals on Sunday for an exciting matchup at home plate. Detmers took the mound for the Angels while Lugo started for Kansas City. Right away, the Angels came out swinging. Mike Trout launched a powerful home run to left center field that soared 381 feet into the air, and Neto scored behind him. The Angels were on fire in the second inning, adding four more runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Frazier doubled to center, bringing Lowe home. Then Neto delivered another clutch hit—a double to left field—scoring both Frazier and d'Arnaud. Soler capped off the inning with a single to left, plating Neto. The Angels' early dominance gave them complete control heading into the middle innings.
Royals Claw Back with Late-Inning Power
Although the Royals fell far behind early, they refused to quit. Kansas City finally got on the board in the fifth inning when Collins singled to center, scoring Loftin and making it 6-1. The momentum shifted dramatically in the sixth inning when Bobby Witt Jr. crushed a massive home run 427 feet to center field, driving in Thomas and cutting the deficit to 6-3. Collins added another run with a solo home run to right in the seventh inning, while Pasquantino drove in Massey with a sacrifice fly. The Royals were chipping away at the Angels' lead. When Perez singled to center in the ninth inning, Pasquantino scored, and then Caglianone shocked everyone with a two-run home run to right field, tying the game at 8-8 and forcing extra innings.
Thomas Walk-Off Lifts Royals to Extra-Inning Victory
The tenth inning became the turning point nobody expected. The Angels scored once when Teodosio walked and Peraza scored on a passed ball, giving Los Angeles a 9-8 lead. But then came the dramatic finish. With two outs, runners on the corners, and pressure mounting, Bobby Thomas stepped up to the plate against Angels pitcher Jensen. Thomas connected on a sinker and launched a three-run home run 407 feet to left center field. The ball sailed over the wall, and both Jensen and Garcia scored along with Thomas. Kansas City's incredible comeback was complete. The Royals won 11-9 in ten innings, escaping from a 6-0 deficit to claim an amazing victory. Both teams left everything on the field in this thrilling Sunday matchup.
