Rockies Stun Dodgers Again at Coors Field
The Los Angeles Dodgers traveled to Coors Field in Colorado on Sunday, April 19, hoping to bounce back from a tough loss. The Rockies had beaten them 4–3 the day before, and now Los Angeles wanted revenge. However, Colorado had other plans. Roki Sasaki took the mound for the Dodgers while Michael Lorenzen started for the Rockies. Early on, the Dodgers struck first when Shohei Ohtani powered a double over the right field wall, scoring a run. The ball traveled 299 feet with impressive exit velocity. Los Angeles built a 3–0 lead by the fourth inning, looking strong despite missing key players like Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts to injury. The Dodgers seemed ready to dominate this game.
Colorado Mounts Massive Comeback in Middle Innings
Everything changed when Colorado turned it up in the fifth inning. Karros launched a towering home run that soared 448 feet—one of the longest balls of the day. Julien followed with a single, and suddenly the Rockies were back in the game at 3–3. Los Angeles added one more run in the sixth inning to go up 4–3. But the Rockies refused to quit. In the seventh inning, Moniak smashed a two-run homer into right center field, putting Colorado ahead 5–4. Freeman added another hit to extend the lead to 6–4. The momentum had completely shifted. What started as a Dodgers advantage turned into a Colorado rally that had the crowd on their feet.
Rockies Hold Strong Despite Late Dodgers Surge
Colorado kept pounding in the eighth inning when Julien singled with runners in scoring position, bringing in two more runs. Then Moniak made a fielder's choice that added one final run, pushing the score to 9–4. The Rockies' bats were on fire, and their pitching held up when it mattered most. Los Angeles tried to battle back in the ninth inning with a couple of late hits, but it was too little, too late. Smith singled and Rushing drove in another run, but the Dodgers only managed 6 runs total. The Rockies won decisively, 9–6, improving to 9–13 on the season. This victory gave them back-to-back wins. Meanwhile, the Dodgers fell to 15–6, losing for the second straight game.
