Dodgers Travel to Milwaukee, Brewers Strike First
The Dodgers rolled into Milwaukee with a 31-20 record, hungry to bounce back after losing the night before. The Brewers were hot too, sitting at 30-18 with four straight wins. You could feel the energy at American Family Field as these two powerhouses faced off. Right from the start, Milwaukee's bats came alive. William Contreras stepped up in the first inning and crushed a three-run home run that rocketed 410 feet to left field. Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio raced home. Then Sal Frelick added another run with a sacrifice fly. Just like that, the Brewers led 4-0 before the Dodgers even got a bat in their hands. Los Angeles pitcher Justin Wrobleski was in trouble early. The Brewers' powerful lineup looked unstoppable. Milwaukee kept swinging hard, and the Dodgers faced an uphill battle from the opening pitch.
Brewers Add Insurance, Wrobleski Takes the Loss
Milwaukee wasn't done piling on the runs. In the second inning, Andrew Vaughn ripped a double to center field and Contreras came home with the fifth run. The Brewers' starter Logan Henderson was absolutely locked in on the mound. The right-hander threw five innings, gave up just two hits, and struck out seven Dodgers batters. Meanwhile, Los Angeles kept struggling to find their rhythm. Stars like Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Kyle Tucker couldn't get anything going at the plate. Shohei Ohtani did manage a hit, but the Dodgers offense was quiet. Justin Wrobleski, Los Angeles' pitcher, couldn't escape the damage. He gave up eight hits and five runs in five innings, taking the loss. The Brewers' bullpen kept the Dodgers scoreless through the middle innings. Milwaukee's defense was sharp too, backing up their pitching staff.
Ohtani's Late Run Not Enough, Brewers Hold On
The Dodgers finally broke through in the seventh inning. Shohei Ohtani stepped up with two outs and lifted a sacrifice fly to left field. Teoscar Hernandez raced home with Los Angeles' only run, cutting the deficit to 5-1. But it was too little, too late. The Brewers brought in Aaron Ashby to shut down the Dodgers for good. Ashby tossed 1.1 scoreless innings. Chad Patrick closed things out with a save, sealing Milwaukee's 5-1 victory. The Brewers improved to 30-18 with their fifth straight win. Los Angeles fell to 31-21 and suffered their second loss in a row. Wrobleski took the loss for the Dodgers. William Contreras was the star of the night with three hits, two runs, and three RBIs. The Brewers' powerful bats overwhelmed Los Angeles from start to finish. Milwaukee's pitching held strong when it mattered most.
