Brewers Fall Short in Atlanta Again
The Milwaukee Brewers traveled to Atlanta for game two of their series needing to bounce back. They'd lost the night before 3-2, and now faced the hot Braves at home. This was a chance to steal a win on the road. But Atlanta had other plans. The Braves dominated down the stretch and won 4-3 in a battle that had you on the edge of your seat. Kyle Harrison took the mound for Milwaukee, ready to shut down Atlanta's lineup. Chris Sale stood tall for the Braves, looking every bit the veteran ace. Both teams scratched and clawed for every run. The Brewers stayed close the whole way through, but Atlanta's bats proved too much in the late innings. Milwaukee dropped to 45-30 after this tough loss.
Early Runs and Late Drama
The game exploded in the fifth inning when Ozzie Albies rocked a 94-mile-per-hour fastball from Kyle Harrison deep to right center. The ball sailed 367 feet and the crowd erupted. Atlanta led 1-0. But Milwaukee fought back fast. In the sixth inning, Gary Sanchez lifted a sacrifice fly to right that brought Jackson Chourio home. The score was tied 1-1. Then Andrew Vaughn lined a single to center, and Brice Turang sprinted home to give Milwaukee the lead 2-1. The Brewers grabbed control with two runs in that frame. Atlanta refused to go away. In the seventh, Austin Riley grounded out but Albies raced home and made it 3-2. The game stayed tight. Every pitch mattered. Every batter felt the pressure. Both teams left runners stranded and made tough outs.
Albies Seals It in the Ninth
Everything came down to the ninth inning. The Brewers brought in Aaron Ashby to try to lock things down. He faced Ozzie Albies with one out and the bases still alive with possibility. Albies looked ready. Here came a 98-mile-per-hour sinker. Albies swung hard. The ball rocketed off his bat toward right field. Gone. His second home run of the game, 339 feet, cleared the wall. Matt Olson scored behind him. Atlanta won 4-3. The Braves improved to 48-27 and grabbed back-to-back victories. Milwaukee fell to 45-30 and extended their losing streak to three games. Albies was the hero of the day with three runs, two homers, and three RBIs. His power in the clutch delivered the final blow. The Brewers' road trip stumbled again.
