Brewers Strike Early Against Cubs on Tuesday
The Milwaukee Brewers visited Wrigley Field on Tuesday, May 19, ready to build on their recent success. Milwaukee had crushed the Cubs 9–3 in their previous matchup, and they brought that same energy into game two. Jacob Misiorowski took the mound for the Brewers, while Ben Brown started for Chicago. The Cubs needed a bounce-back performance, but the Brewers had other plans. Milwaukee jumped ahead quickly in the first inning when Mitchell singled to right field, scoring Turang with authority. The ball flew off Mitchell's bat at 106 miles per hour and traveled 59 feet. By the end of nine innings, Milwaukee dominated with a commanding 5–2 victory. Although Chicago fought back in the eighth inning, they couldn't overcome Milwaukee's early offensive surge and strong pitching performance throughout the game.
Brewers Build Lead Through Third Inning
Milwaukee's offense kept rolling in the third inning, adding to their advantage on the scoreboard. Ben Brown struggled with control, throwing wild pitches that allowed Chourio to score and advance runners into scoring position. The wildness hurt Chicago as Contreras moved to second base on another wild pitch, setting up more opportunities. Bauers then stepped up and singled to right field, driving in Contreras for another Brewers run. The hit had some serious pop, leaving Bauers's bat at 96 miles per hour and traveling 225 feet. By the end of the third inning, Milwaukee had extended their lead to 3–0, putting them firmly in control. Chicago's pitching struggles early made the Cubs' comeback difficult later. Milwaukee's aggressive approach at the plate and willingness to capitalize on mistakes gave them a commanding cushion heading into the middle innings of the contest.
Turang's Homer Seals Victory for Milwaukee
As the game moved into the eighth inning, Milwaukee's Turang stepped up to the plate with runners on base and a chance to put the game away. With two outs and a 3–1 count, he connected on a fastball traveling 94 miles per hour. The ball rocketed off his bat with incredible force—101 miles per hour exit velocity—and sailed deep to left center field. When it cleared the wall 370 feet away, the crowd fell silent. Turang's two-run homer made it 5–0 Brewers, effectively ending any Cubs comeback hopes. Chicago managed to score twice in the bottom of the eighth when Hoerner and Suzuki recorded hits, but Milwaukee's pitching held firm. The Brewers' resilience and timely hitting proved too much for the struggling Cubs offense. Milwaukee improved to 28–18 while Chicago fell to 29–20, with the Brewers winning their second consecutive matchup.
