Buxton's Solo Shot Kickoff in Chicago
The Twins rolled into Chicago needing to bounce back after losing the night before. The White Sox sat at 28-27, hungry for a win at home. Right away in the first inning, Byron Buxton stepped up to face David Sandlin. The pitch came in at 97 miles per hour—a fastball down the middle. Buxton didn't miss it. He ripped it hard to center field, and the ball soared 417 feet into the air. It landed deep in the bleachers for a home run. The Twins were up 1-0. That early blast looked promising. But the White Sox answered fast. In the second inning, things got rough for Minnesota pitcher Connor Prielipp. Sam Antonacci singled to center, and two runners scored right away. Chicago took the lead 2-1 before the inning ended.
White Sox Explosion Puts Game Out of Reach
The third inning brought more trouble for the Twins. Colson Montgomery doubled to center, and another run scored for Chicago. That made it 2-1, White Sox. Connor Prielipp was struggling. The fifth inning turned into a nightmare for Minnesota's pitching. Randal Grichuk singled to left, and Munetaka Murakami crossed home. Then Edgar Quero hit a sacrifice fly, and another runner scored. Sam Antonacci smashed a single to right field—two more runs came in. It was 7-1 now. By the sixth inning, Grichuk singled again and Murakami scored once more. The White Sox kept piling on runs. The Twins couldn't stop the bleeding. Chicago's bats were on fire, and Minnesota's pitching couldn't find answers.
Meidroth and Murakami Power Chicago's Seventh Inning Surge
The seventh inning was devastating for Minnesota. Chase Meidroth stepped into the box facing Travis Adams. A slider came at 85 miles per hour. Meidroth connected and launched it to center field—400 feet of pure power. The ball rocketed over the wall. Four runners crossed home on that one swing. Seconds later, Munetaka Murakami came up and did it again. He crushed a four-seam fastball 432 feet to left-center field. Another home run. Chicago was absolutely unstoppable. The score ballooned to 14-1. Late in the game, Kody Clemens hit a solo homer for the Twins to make it 14-2. Then the White Sox tacked on one more run in the eighth. Final score: Chicago 15, Minnesota 2. The White Sox dominated from start to finish.
