Ewing, who had stolen two bases earlier in the game, raced home from third base. That made it 5-0 Mets. The Padres went down without scoring a single run. Christian Scott was outstanding, allowing just three hits through 5.2 innings. The relief pitchers finished the job perfectly. The Mets walked away with a clean shutout victory.
