Yankees Storm Kansas City With Early Barrage
After beating Kansas City 4-3 the night before, the Yankees came to Kauffman Stadium ready to blow the game wide open. The Royals had no answer for what was coming. In the first inning, Cody Bellinger crushed the first pitch he saw—a slider from Bailey Falter—and the ball sailed 387 feet into right field. One pitch later, Ben Rice lined a single to right, scoring Paul Goldschmidt. Then Amed Rosario stepped up and launched a curveball 420 feet over left center. The Yankees jumped ahead 4-0 before anyone could blink. The Royals looked lost at the plate already. Kansas City's pitchers were in serious trouble.
Volpe and Grisham Add More Damage
The Yankees kept piling on runs in the second and third innings. Anthony Volpe launched a four-seam fastball 409 feet into center field. The ball shot off his bat like a rocket. Then in the third inning, things got even crazier. Volpe singled to left, scoring Ben Rice. Trent Grisham grounded out but Amed Rosario scored anyway, stretching the lead to 7-0. Cody Bellinger singled again, and two more runs crossed the plate. The Yankees had 9 runs before the Royals could even catch their breath. Meanwhile, Cam Schlittler was dominant on the mound for New York. Bobby Witt Jr. hit one solo shot in the third to get Kansas City's only run.
Yankees Close Out Dominant Blowout Victory
The Yankees weren't done yet. In the seventh inning, Trent Grisham smashed a slider 414 feet to right center, adding more power to an already lopsided game. Jazz Chisholm Jr. joined the home run party in the eighth, hitting a changeup 416 feet to right center. The hits just kept coming. Austin Wells singled to right, bringing another run across. Then in the ninth inning, Amed Rosario stepped up again and launched a changeup 381 feet to right center. Two more runs scored. The Yankees finished with 15 runs and only 7 hits from Kansas City. New York improved to 34-22, staying hot with wins in three straight games. The Royals dropped to 22-34, struggling badly.
