Minnesota dominates Seattle in Monday matchup
The Minnesota Twins hosted the Seattle Mariners on Monday night, and Minnesota's offense was absolutely unstoppable. Going into the game, both teams had strong pitching staffs, but the Twins' bats came alive early. Castillo took the mound for Seattle while Connor Prielipp started for Minnesota. The final score told the story—the Twins dominated 11–4 in a game that got away from the Mariners pretty quickly. Seattle had come off a great win against St. Louis just the night before, with Refsnyder hitting a go-ahead homer in that game. However, this night belonged completely to Minnesota. The Twins' pitching held Seattle's lineup in check while their hitters made the most of every opportunity. This was a crushing loss for Seattle, dropping them to 14–16 on the season.
Twins' explosive early offense breaks game open
Minnesota wasted no time putting runs on the board in the early innings. In the second inning, Keaschall drove a double down the right field line, and Bell came home to score. The Twins led 1–0, but that was just the beginning. The third inning became a nightmare for Seattle's pitching. Jeffers ripped a single to right field, scoring Larnach and moving Bell to second. Then Clemens stepped up and absolutely crushed a fastball over the right field wall for a three-run homer that traveled 379 feet. Just like that, Minnesota had a 5–0 lead. Buxton added even more damage in the fourth inning with a two-run blast to left that went 396 feet. The Twins' offense was relentless. By the time the dust settled early, Minnesota had built an insurmountable 7–0 advantage. Seattle's pitchers struggled to find the strike zone.
Mariners mount late comeback but fall short
Seattle's offense finally woke up in the fifth inning, scoring two runs to cut the deficit. Garver singled to left, bringing Arozarena home, and Young followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Crawford. The Mariners trailed 7–2, still facing an impossible task. Minnesota added one more run in the sixth when Larnach reached on an infield single. Despite being down significantly, Seattle refused to quit completely. Raleigh smashed a two-run homer to right field in the eighth inning, traveling 396 feet and driving in Refsnyder. That brought the Mariners closer at 8–4. However, Minnesota's bats came alive again in the bottom of the eighth. Jeffers singled and Clemens added another hit, bringing two more runners home. Final score: Twins 11, Mariners 4. Seattle's comeback effort proved too little, too late.
