The Central Division looks like a tale of two worlds right now. Detroit sits on top like a king on his throne. Cleveland keeps pushing forward behind them. The bottom three teams are fighting through difficult times.
Detroit Pistons: Kings of the Central
Detroit owns the best record in the division at 40-13. They're number one in the entire Eastern Conference. The Pistons are on fire right now.
Cade Cunningham runs the show like a conductor leading an orchestra. He dropped 33 points against Charlotte and 28 against Toronto. His passes slice through defenses like a hot knife through butter. The team has won a ton of games heading into the All-Star break.
Detroit's defense clamps down when it matters most. They suffocate opponents in the final minutes. This team looks like a real championship contender.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Staying Strong
Cleveland holds a 34-21 record, sitting seven games behind Detroit. They rank fourth in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers just acquired James Harden in a trade as well.
Donovan Mitchell powers this team like a rocket ship. He scored 30 against Washington and 32 against Denver. Sam Merrill exploded for 32 points in the Washington win. Mitchell's clutch playmaking helped them beat Denver by just two points.
Cleveland bounces back quickly after losses. That mental toughness will help them in the playoffs.
The Struggling Three
Chicago sits at 24-31 after losing two straight blowouts. Boston crushed them 124-105. Brooklyn beat them 123-115 before that. The Bulls can't stop opponents from scoring.
Milwaukee is 23-30 but just won two games in a row. They beat Orlando 116-108 and Oklahoma City 110-93. Cam Thomas scored 34 points against Orlando. The Bucks are fighting to save their season.
Indiana stands at 15-40, last in the division. But they won two straight games! Pascal Siakam scored 30 in overtime against New York. Jarace Walker led them with 23 points against Brooklyn.
The Central Division race stays hot as the All-Star break arrives.
