The Northwest Division has a clear king right now. The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder sit at the top with an amazing 40-12 record. Behind them, teams are fighting hard to climb the standings.
Thunder Flying High
Oklahoma City holds the best record in the entire Western Conference. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads this powerful team like a superhero in a blue jersey. He slashes to the basket, weaving through defenders like they're standing still. Earlier this week, the Thunder crushed Orlando 128-92. They scored points in bunches and played lockdown defense. But they stumbled against San Antonio on Wednesday, losing 116-106. Still, this team looks ready to defend their championship crown.
Nuggets Struggling in Close Games
Denver sits at 33-19, holding the third spot in the West. Nikola Jokic plays like a giant chess master, seeing passes nobody else can imagine. Jamal Murray darts around screens and launches smooth jumpers. But the Nuggets lost two straight games this week. They fell to Detroit 124-121 and New York 134-127. When games get tight at the end, Denver can't seem to finish strong.
Timberwolves Hit a Bump
Minnesota was riding a four-game winning streak before crashing back to earth. They lost to New Orleans 119-115 on Friday despite strong efforts from Anthony Edwards. Edwards attacks the rim with explosive speed and power. Julius Randle grabbed seven rebounds and Rudy Gobert protected the paint with 11 boards. The Timberwolves stand at 32-21.
Trail Blazers Finding Hope
Portland's young squad is learning and growing. They beat Memphis 135-115 on Friday behind Jerami Grant's 23 points. The Trail Blazers are 24-28, showing flashes of future greatness even while rebuilding.
Jazz Building for Tomorrow
Utah owns the division's worst record at 16-36. But they're not giving up. Lauri Markkanen shoots over defenders with his smooth stroke. The Jazz lost to Atlanta 121-119 on Thursday but won against Indiana earlier in the week. Young players are getting valuable experience every night.
The Northwest Division race continues with Oklahoma City controlling the throne.
