The Brooklyn Nets travel to Denver on Thursday night for a battle with the Nuggets. Brooklyn sits at 12-33 and continues to develop young talent. Denver holds a strong 31-16 record but faces major injury problems.
Nets Building for the Future
Brooklyn's rebuild shows surprising fight. The Nets lost to Phoenix 102-106 in a close battle. That's much better than the blowouts they suffered earlier this season.
Michael Porter Jr. leads Brooklyn's attack with about 26 points per game. The 6-foot-9 scorer can light up the scoreboard in seconds. He dropped 36 points against Phoenix on red-hot shooting. His long arms stretch toward the rim as he releases jumpers that snap through the net.
Nic Claxton patrols the paint with about 14 points and 8 rebounds per game. Cam Thomas adds scoring punch with about 21 points per contest. Five rookies from 2024 need playing time. Every game helps them grow.
Nuggets Missing Their MVP
Denver just lost two nail-biters in a row. They fell 109-107 to Detroit at home.
The biggest problem? Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic remains out with a knee injury. He won't return until early February. Jamal Murray must carry the scoring load alone. He averages about 25 points and 7 assists.
Aaron Gordon is doubtful with a strain. Cameron Johnson also sits out with a knee injury.
Thursday's Showdown
Brooklyn has a real chance here. Denver's stars are hurting. The young Nets can grab valuable experience and maybe even a road victory.
