Rockets vs Pelicans Preview: Battle of Playmakers

The Houston Rockets bring their 44-29 record into New Orleans on Sunday, sitting sixth in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Pelicans at 25-50 are looking to build momentum late in a rough season. Although these teams are heading in different directions, this matchup still has real stakes — especially for Houston, which needs every win to protect its playoff position.

Kevin Durant, at 37 years old, averages about 25 points per game and remains Houston's go-to scorer in clutch moments. His smooth shot-making in isolation is nearly impossible to guard. Alperen Şengün adds about 23 points, over nine rebounds, and nearly seven assists per game. Because he controls the half-court offense with elite passing and post scoring, Şengün has earned legitimate All-Star recognition this season.

New Orleans enters Sunday with serious injury uncertainty. Trey Murphy III, who averages about 21 points per game, is questionable with a right ankle sprain.
