Raptors Take Control, Leave Cavs Searching for Answers
The Toronto Raptors showed why they belong in the playoffs Thursday night. They defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 126-104 in Game 3, cutting the Cavaliers' series lead to 2-1. The Raptors came out firing from the start, jumping to a 31-25 lead after one quarter. Cleveland kept pace through halftime, tying things up 54-54. However, Toronto pulled away in the second half, outscoring Cleveland in the third quarter to build momentum. By the fourth quarter, the game was essentially over. The Raptors' defense applied relentless pressure, forcing turnovers and making every possession difficult for the Cavaliers. This victory proved Toronto could compete with Cleveland's star power. James Harden and Donovan Mitchell couldn't generate enough offense to keep pace. The Raptors' balanced attack showed that depth and versatility matter in the playoffs.
Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett Lead Toronto's Explosive Offense
Two Raptors stars stepped up big in Game 3. Scottie Barnes recorded 33 points and 11 assists, running the offense like a true floor general. RJ Barrett matched him with 33 points of his own, shooting an impressive 63.2 percent from the field. Together, they created problems Cleveland couldn't solve. Barnes orchestrated plays from the wing, finding open teammates while also scoring in transition. Barrett attacked downhill, creating his own shot opportunities through mid-range pull-ups and drives to the rim. Collin Murray-Boyles added 22 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Late in the fourth quarter, the Raptors' dominance showed clearly. With 3:45 remaining, Battle hit a three-pointer to push Toronto ahead 116-99. Barrett finished strong, making back-to-back three-pointers down the stretch. Cleveland simply couldn't match Toronto's firepower.
Cleveland's Comeback Bid Falls Short in Fourth Quarter
The Cavaliers never quit, but they couldn't catch up. Heading into the fourth quarter, Toronto led 83-81, keeping things close. Then everything changed. With 11:32 left, Sam Merrill hit a three-pointer to give Cleveland a brief 84-83 lead. For a moment, hope flickered. But Toronto responded immediately with their relentless attack. Jamison Battle answered with a nine-foot turnaround shot, regaining the lead 85-84. From there, Toronto built separation. James Harden tried creating offense, making a thirty-one-foot three-pointer with 6:26 remaining to cut it to 103-97. Yet that wasn't enough. The Raptors' defense tightened significantly, and their scorers kept answering. By the final buzzer, Toronto held a commanding 126-104 advantage. Cleveland's starters played hard, but without consistent bench support, they fell short. This loss puts pressure on the Cavaliers heading into Game 4 on Sunday.
