Lakers Roll Past Mavericks
The Los Angeles Lakers powered past the Dallas Mavericks 124-104 on Thursday night. LeBron James led the way with a masterful triple-double performance. Dallas fell to their seventh straight loss without star rookie Cooper Flagg in the lineup.
LeBron Does It All
LeBron looked like a superhero in purple and gold. He stuffed the stat sheet with 28 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. Picture him soaring to the rim like a jet plane. He attacked the basket with power. His passes zipped across the court like lightning bolts. LeBron made half his shots and controlled the game for 35 minutes. At age 40, he still plays like the best player on the floor.
Supporting Cast Steps Up
Rui Hachimura caught fire with 21 points on scorching shooting. He connected on over 69 percent of his shots. Jaxson Hayes was a monster in the paint with 16 points and seven rebounds. He blocked shots and stole the ball three times. Austin Reaves added 18 points and six assists. The Lakers had five players score in double figures.
Mavericks Fight Without Their Star
Dallas battled hard without Flagg, who sat out with an injury. Naji Marshall led the Mavericks with 19 points and four assists. Brandon Williams dished out seven assists to go with 17 points. P.J. Washington scored 18 points and grabbed four boards. But it wasn't enough.
The game was close at halftime. The Lakers led by just one point, 64-63. Then Los Angeles exploded in the third quarter. They outscored Dallas 32-19 to pull away for good.
Looking Ahead
The Lakers improved to 33-21 and sit fifth in the Western Conference. They head into the All-Star break with momentum. Dallas dropped to 19-35 and continues to struggle without Kyrie Irving and Flagg. Both teams return to action after the break on February 20.
