Brunson Powers Knicks Past Nuggets in Double Overtime Battle
The New York Knicks won their seventh straight game Wednesday night. They outlasted the Denver Nuggets 134-127 in a double overtime classic at Madison Square Garden. The game went back and forth for 58 minutes of basketball action.
Brunson Takes Over in Extra Minutes
Jalen Brunson was unstoppable all night long. The Knicks' star guard poured in 42 points and dished out nine assists. He played 47 minutes, carrying his team through the exhausting battle. Brunson knocked down shots from everywhere on the court. He looked like a superhero who never got tired.
Brunson also grabbed eight rebounds. His body crashed into defenders as he fought for every loose ball. He added two steals on defense too.
Murray Matches Brunson Shot for Shot
Jamal Murray wasn't backing down. Denver's guard answered with 39 points of his own. He played all 48 minutes, battling Brunson possession after possession. Murray added six assists and five rebounds while firing away from long range.
Nikola Jokic did everything for Denver. The giant center stuffed the stat sheet with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. His passes zipped through tight spaces like magic. But even his triple-double couldn't save the Nuggets.
Towns and Supporting Cast Step Up
Karl-Anthony Towns controlled the paint for New York. He scored 24 points and yanked down 12 rebounds in just 31 minutes. OG Anunoby added 20 points and eight rebounds in 48 minutes of tough two-way play.
Denver played without Aaron Gordon, who remains out with an injury. Tim Hardaway Jr. stepped up with 19 points off the bench.
Double Overtime Drama Decides It
The teams were tied after one overtime period. In the second extra session, the Knicks outscored Denver 15-8. Their fresh legs finally broke through.
New York improved to 33-18 and sits second in the Eastern Conference. Denver dropped to 33-19 despite the heroic efforts from Murray and Jokic.
