Magic Hold Off Pistons in Close Game 3 Battle
Saturday's playoff game between Detroit and Orlando came down to the final moments. The Pistons, one of the league's best teams, faced off against the Magic in Game 3 with Orlando leading the series 2-1. Both teams traded baskets throughout the contest, but Orlando's balanced scoring attack proved decisive. The Magic won 113-105, extending their series lead to 2-1. Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 27 points and nine assists in 41 minutes, but it wasn't quite enough. Franz Wagner's strong performance with 17 points and six assists kept Orlando's offense flowing. The game stayed competitive into the fourth quarter, where Orlando's depth ultimately made the difference. Detroit's elite defense couldn't slow down multiple Magic scorers simultaneously, revealing cracks in their playoff armor.
Cunningham's Stellar Night Not Enough Against Wagner
Cade Cunningham put on a performance worthy of MVP consideration. The 27-point, nine-assist game showcased his ability to control the offense while scoring from anywhere on the floor. However, Franz Wagner's emergence in the second half proved crucial for Orlando's victory. Wagner finished with 17 points on much better shooting than earlier in the season. Desmond Bane added 25 points on efficient 50 percent shooting, spreading Detroit's defense too thin to contain everyone. Paolo Banchero chipped in 25 points and 12 rebounds, dominating the boards. When multiple scorers go off simultaneously, even the best defenses struggle. Detroit's defensive intensity couldn't lock down all of Orlando's weapons at once. Tobias Harris scored 23 points for Detroit, but his efforts alongside Cunningham still fell short against Orlando's balanced attack and depth advantage.
Series Shifts as Pistons Face Must-Win Game 4
With Orlando leading 2-1, Detroit heads back home facing elimination pressure in Game 4 on Monday. The Pistons proved they can hang with anyone defensively, but their offensive inconsistency worries fans. Cade Cunningham's brilliance can't carry the team alone against balanced opponents. Kevin Huerter, Detroit's swingman, left early with a hip injury and remains questionable for Game 4. His return would help the Pistons' spacing and perimeter defense. Meanwhile, Jonathan Isaac continued recovering from a left knee sprain and won't play in Game 4 either. Orlando's depth advantage showed throughout Game 3, and Detroit needs adjustments fast. The Pistons must find ways to help Cunningham score more efficiently and limit turnovers. Detroit has championship-level defense and star power, but consistency wins playoff series, not single performances.
