The LA Clippers rolled past the Los Angeles Lakers 112-104 on Thursday night. It was a battle of two teams searching for their identity this season.
Clippers Jump Out Early
The Clippers came out firing in the first quarter. They put up 36 points and never looked back. By halftime, they had stretched their lead to 17 points. The Lakers couldn't find an answer for the Clippers' balanced attack.
Ivica Zubac was a beast in the paint. The big man pulled down 19 rebounds and scored 18 points. He was everywhere, grabbing missed shots and controlling the boards. His hands looked like magnets every time the ball bounced off the rim.
Luka Fights Back Alone
Luka Dončić did everything he could to keep the Lakers alive. He poured in 32 points and added 11 rebounds and eight assists. His step-back jumpers looked smooth and effortless. He weaved through defenders like a magician with the ball.
LeBron James added 23 points in 36 minutes. At 40 years old, he still attacks the basket with power. But without Austin Reaves, who sat out with an injury, the Lakers needed more help.
Rui Hachimura chipped in 12 points for Los Angeles. Marcus Smart added 10 points and played tough defense.
Balanced Attack Powers LA
The Clippers got contributions from everyone. Kawhi Leonard scored 24 points in just 26 minutes. He made tough shots look easy with his smooth shooting form.
James Harden ran the offense like a master conductor. He finished with 18 points and 10 assists. His passes found open teammates all night long.
John Collins was perfect from the field, making all seven of his shots for 13 points. Jordan Miller added 14 points off the bench.
Looking Ahead
The Clippers improved to 20-24 and climbed closer to playoff position. The Lakers fell to 26-17 but remain in the playoff picture. Both teams continue their seasons this weekend.
