Celtics Roll Past 76ers in Second-Half Surge
Boston's winning streak has begun. They’ve now won two games in a row with a powerful 114-98 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday night. The Celtics turned up the heat after halftime and never looked back.
Hot Start Turns Cold for Philadelphia
The 76ers jumped out to a 28-26 lead after the first quarter. But Boston flipped the script in the second period. The Celtics exploded for 36 points before halftime. Philadelphia managed just 22 points in that quarter. Suddenly Boston led 62-50 at the break.
The momentum never shifted back. Boston kept pouring it on in the second half. The Celtics added 27 points in the third quarter. They stretched their lead to 89-83 heading into the final period.
Queta Dominates the Paint
Neemias Queta was unstoppable inside. The big man grabbed rebounds with both hands and finished strong at the rim. He scored 27 points on incredible shooting. Queta also pulled down 17 rebounds and swatted away three shots. He looked like a giant protecting the basket all night long.
Jaylen Brown matched Queta with 27 points of his own. Brown dished out eight assists and grabbed eight rebounds. He made his shots look easy, gliding to the basket and draining jumpers.
Derrick White added 21 points and eight assists. He also played tough defense with two steals and two blocks.
Maxey Battles Without Help
The 76ers played without star center Joel Embiid, who sat out with an oblique strain. They also missed Paul George, who was suspended.
Tyrese Maxey fought hard for Philadelphia. He scored 33 points but needed 43 minutes to get there. His shooting was off, but he kept attacking.
VJ Edgecombe added 23 points in 40 minutes. Andre Drummond grabbed 12 rebounds while Dominick Barlow pulled down eight boards.
Boston improved to 40-20 this season. Philadelphia fell to 33-27. The Celtics look ready for a playoff run as their stars keep rolling.
