The Lakers needed a win badly. They got one Sunday night, beating the Toronto Raptors 110-93 at home. Los Angeles snapped a two-game losing streak that had their defense looking broken.
Ayton's Perfect Night
DeAndre Ayton was unstoppable in the paint. The big center made every single shot he took. He finished with 25 points on perfect shooting from the field. Ayton also grabbed 13 rebounds, controlling the boards like a magnet pulling down metal. His hands looked soft as pillows catching passes. His dunks rattled the rim with authority.
The Big Three Delivers
LeBron James showed why he's still one of the game's greats. The 40-year-old superstar scored 24 points and dished out 7 assists. He moved like a chess master, always one step ahead. Luka Doncic added 25 points and 7 assists of his own. The two stars worked together to slice through Toronto's defense. Rui Hachimura chipped in 10 points. Marcus Smart provided energy with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
Toronto's Injury Troubles
The Raptors played without several key players. Star guard Austin Reaves sat out for the Lakers, but Toronto had bigger problems. They were missing RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, and several others due to injuries. Collin Murray-Boyles left the game early after hurting his thumb in the third quarter.
Barnes Battles Alone
Scottie Barnes fought hard for Toronto with 22 points and 9 rebounds. He attacked the basket and tried to will his team back. Sandro Mamukelashvili came off the bench with 20 points on hot shooting. Brandon Ingram added 19 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Turning Point
Toronto led after the first quarter 30-23. But the Lakers took control in the second half. They outscored the Raptors 55-39 after halftime. Their defense finally showed up when it mattered most.
The Lakers improved to 25-16 while Toronto fell to 25-19.
