NFC Championship Preview: Seahawks vs. Rams
Two familiar rivals are meeting with everything on the line. The Seattle Seahawks will host the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game. The winner earns a trip to the Super Bowl. The loser sees their season end.
Both teams are coming off big Divisional Round wins and are playing with confidence. They are led by veteran quarterbacks, powered by strong running games, and supported by star offensive players who can change the game in one play.
How the Seahawks Reached the Championship
Seattle enters the game after one of the most dominant playoff wins of the season. In the Divisional Round, the Seahawks crushed the 49ers 41–6 and controlled the game from start to finish.
The game started with a kickoff return touchdown, and Seattle never looked back. Running back Kenneth Walker III had a huge night, scoring three rushing touchdowns and wearing down the defense. Seattle’s defense forced turnovers, created pressure, and shut down San Francisco’s offense.
At home, the Seahawks are especially tough to beat. The loud crowd at Lumen Field makes it hard for visiting teams to communicate. If Seattle starts fast again, they can quickly take control of the game.
How the Rams Reached the Championship
The Rams had a much tighter path to the NFC Championship. Their 20–17 overtime win over the Bears was a physical, hard-fought battle.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford stayed calm under pressure and avoided costly mistakes. Running back Kyren Williams led the way with two touchdowns and helped the Rams control the clock. On defense, Los Angeles came up with big interceptions at key moments.
Winning a close playoff game on the road showed the Rams’ toughness. That experience could matter a lot in another loud, high-pressure environment.
Veteran Quarterbacks Set the Tone
Seattle is led by Sam Darnold, who has played steady and smart football throughout the playoffs. Against the 49ers, he protected the ball and made the throws needed to keep Seattle ahead.
Stafford brings even more playoff experience. He has played in the biggest games and knows how to handle pressure. In a championship game, calm quarterback play is critical, and both teams trust their leaders.
Star Receivers Who Can Change the Game
Seattle’s top receiving threat is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He is extremely fast, smooth, and excellent at finding open space. Short passes to him can turn into big gains.
The Rams answer with Puka Nacua, one of the toughest receivers to tackle in the NFL. He plays with strength and energy and has become Stafford’s favorite target in big moments. Meanwhile, his teammate Davante Adams is the best #2 wide receiver in the league.
One big catch from either receiver could swing the game.
What to Expect on Championship Sunday
This game is a clash of styles and strengths. Seattle wants to play physical and aggressive defense, feeding off the home crowd. The Rams lean on offense and want to feed their wide receivers while opening up the running game.
With veteran quarterbacks, powerful running backs, star receivers, and a Super Bowl spot on the line, expect big plays, loud noise, and a game decided by who stays calm and makes the fewest mistakes when it matters most.
