NFL Week 5 Power Rankings – The Top 16
At the top of the rankings, things are starting to get serious. A few teams have separated themselves as true Super Bowl threats, while others are battling to prove they belong in the mix. Let’s count down the teams making the strongest push toward the top.
16. Atlanta Falcons (2-2)
The Falcons beat the Commanders 34-27 in a wild game. Michael Penix Jr. threw for over 300 yards, and Bijan Robinson had two touchdowns, including a long catch-and-run. Atlanta has the talent to scare anyone, but they still give up too many points.
15. Minnesota Vikings (2-2)
The Vikings lost a close one 23-20 to the Steelers in Dublin. Carson Wentz connected with Justin Jefferson for some big plays, but turnovers and late defense let them down. They’ll need to sharpen up in crunch time to get back in the NFC race.
14. Baltimore Ravens (1-3)
The Ravens fell 37-20 to the Chiefs in a tough road game. Lamar Jackson started hot with an early touchdown, but turnovers and sacks slowed him down. They’ve had one of the hardest schedules so far, and things could get worse if Lamar misses time with a hamstring injury.
13. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1)
The Jaguars stunned the 49ers 26-21 on the road. Travis Etienne Jr. ran for over 120 yards, and Trevor Lawrence connected with rookie Travis Hunter for a big play. Jacksonville looks like a real contender if their defense keeps forcing turnovers.
12. Indianapolis Colts (3-1)
The Colts lost their first game of the season, falling 27-20 to the Rams. Daniel Jones made some good throws, and Jonathan Taylor ran hard, but turnovers proved costly. Indy has the weapons to bounce back if they can protect the ball.
11. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1)
The Steelers outlasted the Vikings 23-20 in Dublin. Aaron Rodgers looked sharp with two touchdowns, and DK Metcalf had a big day. Pittsburgh’s defense did just enough, and now they’re pushing to stay near the top of the AFC.
10. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2)
The Chiefs handled the Ravens 37-20 at Arrowhead. Patrick Mahomes threw four touchdowns, and the defense forced turnovers to seal it. Kansas City looks like they’ve found their stride again and will try to keep the momentum going.
9. Los Angeles Chargers (3-1)
The Chargers were shocked in a 21-18 loss to the Giants. Justin Herbert threw a late touchdown, and rookie Omarion Hampton ripped off a long scoring run, but mistakes piled up. The Chargers need to regroup quickly to avoid falling behind in the AFC West.
8. Green Bay Packers (2-1-1)
The Packers tied the Cowboys 40-40 in one of the wildest games of the season. Jordan Love threw three touchdowns to Romeo Doubs, and Josh Jacobs added two more on the ground. Green Bay looks dangerous, but they’ll need the defense to tighten up.
7. Seattle Seahawks (3-1)
The Seahawks beat the Cardinals 23-20 in a nail-biter. Sam Darnold played smart, Kenneth Walker III ran well, and the defense came up big with late stops. Seattle is proving they can win close games, and that’s a good sign moving forward.
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)
The Bucs lost their first game of the year, falling 31-25 to the Eagles. Baker Mayfield threw two long touchdown passes, including a huge play to rookie Emeka Egbuka. Tampa Bay showed fight, but they’ll need to finish stronger against elite teams.
5. San Francisco 49ers (3-1)
The 49ers were upset 26-21 by the Jaguars. Christian McCaffrey looked great with over 140 yards, but their turnovers proved costly. San Francisco will need their stars to get healthy in order to stay in the top tier.
4. Los Angeles Rams (3-1)
The Rams knocked off the Colts 27-20 in a primetime showdown. Matthew Stafford threw for 375 yards, and Puka Nacua had another monster game with over 170 receiving yards. With Stafford playing this well, the Rams look like Super Bowl contenders again.
3. Detroit Lions (3-1)
The Lions dominated the Browns 34-10 to stay near the top of the NFC. Jared Goff threw two touchdowns to Amon-Ra St. Brown, and the defense forced multiple turnovers. Detroit looks balanced and tough to beat on both sides of the ball.
2. Buffalo Bills (4-0)
The Bills beat the Saints 31-19 to stay perfect. Josh Allen threw two touchdowns and ran for another, while James Cook added over 100 rushing yards. Buffalo looks like the most complete team in football right now.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (4-0)
The Eagles topped the Buccaneers 31-25 in a battle of unbeaten teams. Jalen Hurts made big plays with his arm and legs, and the defense held off a late rally. Philly continues to set the gold standard in the NFC with no signs of slowing down.
The top half of the league is packed with star power and championship hopes, but nothing is guaranteed. Injuries, tough schedules, and close games will keep shaking things up every week. Tune in next week to see how things look!
