The Pro Bowl Is Tonight! - What to Expect
The Pro Bowl Games are happening tonight, but fans shouldn’t expect a normal football game. There will be no hard hits or full pads. Instead, the Pro Bowl is a single-night, made-for-TV event focused on fun, skills, and creativity. It takes place Tuesday, February 3 at 8:00 p.m. ET in San Francisco as part of Super Bowl week.
Skills Come First
The night begins with skills competitions where AFC and NFC players face off in passing, catching, sprinting, and relay-style challenges. These events move quickly and are easy to follow, making them exciting for fans of all ages. Each competition earns points for the conference teams, and those points are important because they carry over into the game later in the night.
The Flag Football Game
After the skills challenges, players take the field for a 7-on-7 flag football game. This is a non-contact game, so instead of tackling, defenders pull flags to stop the play. The game is all about speed, quick thinking, and big plays. The NFL is also using the Pro Bowl to highlight flag football ahead of its debut in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, showing how the sport can be fast and exciting without heavy contact.
Star Players and Coaches
Fans will still see many of the NFL’s biggest stars, including Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Ja'Marr Chase, and Christian McCaffrey. Players headed to the Super Bowl are replaced by alternates so everyone stays safe. Former NFL players and Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Steve Young coach the teams, adding extra excitement and nostalgia.
A Fun, Fan-Friendly Vibe
The Pro Bowl is meant to feel relaxed and fun. Expect trick plays, laughs, mic’d-up moments, and lots of interaction with the crowd. Instead of a serious playoff atmosphere, tonight’s event is more like a football party that celebrates the league’s best players and gives fans an entertaining way to kick off Super Bowl week.
