Week 17 NFL Power Rankings: #32 -#17
Week 17 is where the NFL splits in two: teams either chasing the playoffs or using real game reps to evaluate players. Here’s how teams 32–17 stack up based on what actually happened on the field and what they’re focused on over the final stretch.
32) e — New York Giants (2-13)
The Giants lost another messy one, 16–13 to the Vikings, with sacks and stalled drives. They’re eliminated, so these last two weeks are about learning if Jaxson Dart can run the offense when the pocket collapses. They also need to see who on the line and at receiver deserves real snaps going into next season.
31) e — Las Vegas Raiders (2-13)
The Raiders battled the Texans and almost stole it, but still lost 23–21. They’re eliminated, so this is a full “tryout season” now. The last two weeks are about feeding Ashton Jeanty touches and figuring out which young defenders can actually hold up in close games.
30) e — New York Jets (3-12)
The Jets got handled 29–6 by the Saints and didn’t look like a team with answers. They’re eliminated, so the last two weeks are mostly about pride and evaluation. They need to see if any young offensive players can create anything at all, and the coaches need to show the locker room won’t quit.
29) e — Cleveland Browns (3-12)
Cleveland lost 23–20 to Buffalo in a game where every mistake mattered. They’re eliminated, and losing Judkins (broken leg) makes it feel even more like survival mode. The last two weeks are about getting clean reps for their Shedeur Sanders, cutting down turnovers, and seeing which skill guys can be reliable options.
28) e — Tennessee Titans (3-12)
The Titans beat the Chiefs 26–9 and looked sharp on both sides of the ball. They’re eliminated, so this is still about development, but it’s the “feel-good” kind. The rest of the season is about letting Cam Ward stack good games, keeping the defense aggressive, and building habits that carry into the offseason.
27) e — Arizona Cardinals (3-12)
Arizona lost 26–19 to Atlanta after settling for field goals again and again. Michael Wilson made a great contested touchdown catch, but the offense disappeared late. With the season gone, the focus is on finishing drives instead of just starting them.
26) e — Washington Commanders (4-11)
Washington fell 29–18 to Philadelphia with Jayden Daniels shut down. Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Chris Rodriguez Jr. showed toughness running the ball, but the offense couldn’t keep pace. These games are about finding who belongs in the rotation next year.
25) e — New Orleans Saints (5-10)
The Saints crushed the Jets 29–6 behind rookie QB Tyler Shough. Shough leaned on Chris Olave, who went for 148 yards and two touchdowns, including a deep strike from fullback Taysom Hill. The final weeks are about letting this combo keep rolling.
24) e — Cincinnati Bengals (5-10)
Cincinnati blew out Miami 45–21 with Joe Burrow throwing four touchdowns. Chase Brown scored three times and Ja’Marr Chase topped 100 yards. With playoff hopes gone, the Bengals are focused on proving this offense still works when it’s locked in.
23) e — Miami Dolphins (6-9)
Miami got overwhelmed by Burrow and the Bengals and after deciding to bench Tua Tagovailoa. De’Von Achane had one big run, but the offense unraveled once turnovers started. The last two weeks are about surviving and figuring out who will be the quarterback next season.
22) e — Kansas City Chiefs (6-9)
The Chiefs lost 26–9 to Tennessee and looked stuck without answers. With Patrick Mahomes done for the season, Gardner Minshew and Chris Oladokun couldn’t move the offense. These final games are about seeing who can operate without Mahomes covering mistakes.
21) e — Atlanta Falcons (6-9)
Atlanta beat Arizona 26–19 by leaning on Bijan Robinson, who totaled 168 yards. Kirk Cousins added a rushing score and kept mistakes low. The Falcons are using the final weeks to show they can play steady, adult football.
20) e — Dallas Cowboys (6-8-1)
Dallas lost 34–17 to the Chargers as Justin Herbert controlled the game. Dak Prescott and George Pickens had moments, but the Cowboys couldn’t match the Chargers’ physical play. This has been a disappointing season for a veteran team that hoped to make the playoffs.
19) e — Minnesota Vikings (7-8)
Minnesota beat the Giants 16–13 despite losing J.J. McCarthy to injury mid-game. Aaron Jones and the defense carried them late, while Will Reichard hit the game-winning field goal. The Vikings are grinding through injuries just to finish respectably.
18) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8)
Tampa lost 23–20 to Carolina even with wide receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, and Jalen McMillan all healthy. Baker Mayfield moved the ball, but the late interception by Lathan Ransom ended it. Every snap now feels like a season decider as they chase a final playoff spot.
17) Baltimore Ravens (7-8)
Baltimore lost 28–24 to New England after a late fumble killed their comeback. Derrick Henry ran hard and Lamar Jackson made plays, but mistakes outweighed production. Lamar is now dealing with a back injury and these final games are straight must-wins if they want to stay alive.
For teams at the bottom, these games are about answers, not standings. For the Buccaneers and Ravens who are still alive, there’s no margin left, every snap from here on out matters.
